Abstract: In this study, dimension reduction methods were applied to ECG signals and success of such dimension reduction techniques for the classification and segmentation of ECG signals were discussed. As classification method, such as bagging, boosting and random subspace, ensemble methods have been chosen. Because ensemble learning methods are powerful and popular classifiers. Also, segmentation of data through neighbourhood feature extraction (NFE) method were enabled by transiting from high dimensioned space to low dimension space by considering the longitudinal combination of ECG signals. Results classification results of NFE algorithm performed through longitudinal combination and as a newly developed method were compared with classification results of ECG signals obtained through dimension reduction by taking one ECG instance. Results of NFE dimension reduction technique performed by considering the neighbour ECG instances, advantage of effect on segmentation of ECG signals were presented at empirical results section and the success of suggested method was indicated. In addition, ensemble learning methods results were presented comparatively. Results obtained by performed study are promising for the studies to be conducted in further period.

Abstract: Medicine information leaflets provide required information to the patient about the prescribed or non-prescribed medicines. The hard copy leaflets that come along with medicine packages may vary in size and content of the information provided. Although there may be different standards and regulations in different countries, several companies also provide the digital copies of medicine information leaflets on-line. However, there may be differences between the printed and digital copies in terms of layout design and context. In the technology age, since several people use smart phones and computers extensively in their daily-life, it may be the quickest way to access medical information leaflet when required. Therefore, this study focuses on improving the usability and readability of medical leaflets on-screen. First, a medicine information leaflet is considered in its printed form and redesigned to improve its readability. Current digital medicine leaflet and two improved versions in terms of readability and layout are used in tests. Based on the experiments, it was illustrated that it takes shorter time for naïve users to access the right information for a well-designed medicine information leaflet on-screen.

Abstract: In this paper a new class of crisp subsets has been introduced and studied which inherits λα-almost compactness of a space X, endowed with a fuzzy topology. Also a new type of continuous function between two fuzzy topological spaces is introduced under which λα-almost compactness for crisp subsets remains invariant.

Keywords: λα-almost compact set, αλ-closed set, αλ-continuity, fuzzy α-open set, fuzzy α-open function.

Abstract: The contact problem of impressing absolutely rigid punch under normal and shear forces into an elastic layer is examined in presence Coulomb friction in the contact area. It is assumed that the lower boundary of the layer is fixed or there are no normal displacements and shear stresses on it, the punch-strip system is in a condition of limit equilibrium, and the punch does not turn during deformation of the layer. First, considered contact problem is reformulated by Cauchy type singular integral equation of the second kind in which the unknown is the normal contact stresses beneath the punch, next this equation is reduced to system linear algebraic equations by using Gauss-Jacobi quadrature and collocation methods. The effects of geometrical and mechanical parameters of the materials on various subjects of interest are discussed and shown graphically and tabular form.
